Big News

Exactly two weeks ago, today, Tim and I received some very big news...shocking news, I might add. Drum roll please...I am pregnant...7 weeks pregnant, to be exact. Yes, this makes number 3. Like I said before, we were very surprised. We had planned on waiting another year or so before even thinking of having another baby, but God had a different plan. Actually, we couldn't have planned this any better. We are going to Disney World in October...I'll be in my 2nd trimester and feeling better by then, and it won't be sweltering hot. Also, my due date is around the first of April...so I won't have to go through another summer being 6-8 months pregnant. Yippee! We are very excited, but it did take me a couple of days to get over the initial shock!! Needless to say it was a very emotional week for me. I found out on Tuesday before Riley went to Kindergarten on Thursday, which was also Tim's birthday. How much more can a girl handle in one week? When we told Riley and Walker about the new baby, Riley said, "Why don't you go ahead and decide if its going to be a boy or a girl?" Walker says, "I the big brother." Lots of fun and exciting times ahead.

The First Two Days of Kindergarten

Yesterday was Riley's first day of Kindergarten. She has a wonderful teacher, who is very organized, energetic, and has a sugary sweet personality....three very important traits for a Kindergarten teacher to possess, in my opinion. Open house was Wednesday afternoon, so everything was fresh on Riley's mind yesterday morning. She remembered where her room was, what it looked like, and her teacher was a familiar face. Her classroom is decorated in bright colors, with books everywhere. Riley is in hog heaven. She did really well yesterday morning when we left her in her classroom. She didn't cry and to my surprise, neither did I!!

Today, when I dropped her off, she did even better. I had to remind her to sign her name in the notebook, but after that she went straight to her table and got to work. When I picked her up, today, she couldn't stop talking about all the fun things they did. Her favorite was looking for clues that Chester the Raccoon left. They went searching all over the school...library, music room, art room, cafeteria, and office...looking for Chester. Finally when they got back to their room, he had left a note and a treat. Riley's teacher told me that Riley found the note and read it to the class. She is such a big girl.

Walker Bear, Walker Bear

Two of Walker's favorite books right now, are Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Polar Bear, Polar Bear. He has memorized the simple verses and loves to "read" it by describing each animal. Earlier this afternoon, he made up his own version. It went something like this:

Walker Bear, Walker Bear, what do you see?
I see Daddy Bird looking at me.
Daddy Bird, Daddy Bird, what do you see?
I see Momma Duck looking at me.
Momma Duck, Momma Duck, what do you see?
I see Ri-Ri frog looking at me.
Ri-Ri (Riley) frog, Ri-Ri frog, what do you see?
I see children looking at me.

It was so precious, the best part being that he came up with it all by himself. I love watching their little minds work!

Riley is 5!

Riley's gymnastics birthday party was a success....sorry it has taken me so long to post about it!!! She and her friends had a great time jumping into the foam cubes, walking on the balance beam, running and jumping onto the vault, and going through the obstacle course. She had a little trouble blowing out her candles, but that was overshadowed by all the cool stuff she got...books, markers, a Fairytopia Barbie, clothes, an Alabama swimsuit, a leotard...I could go on and on.
